The Era ISD Google Workspace for Education Consent Form provides parents and guardians with information about the district’s use of Google Workspace for Education accounts for students and explains how student information may be collected and used through those services. Google Workspace allows students to access digital learning tools such as Google Classroom, Google Drive, Docs, Calendar, Gmail, and other core applications that support instruction, collaboration, and communication within the classroom environment.
The form explains that when a student account is created, limited personal information—such as the student’s name, email address, and password—is provided to Google so the account can function. Google may also collect usage information when students use the services, including activity within the applications, device information, and general system data needed to operate and improve the platform. Importantly, Google does not use information collected through Google Workspace for Education core services to target advertising to students, and ads are not shown within the core educational tools.
In addition to the core Google tools used for instruction, the form also explains that students may access certain additional Google services and approved third-party educational tools through their accounts when enabled by the district. These tools help support classroom learning activities, projects, and digital collaboration while remaining under school administrative oversight. Parents are also informed that school administrators have the ability to manage student accounts, monitor usage as necessary for educational purposes, and comply with applicable laws and policies.
Parents and guardians are asked to review the information and provide consent for their child to have a Google Workspace for Education account. If consent is not provided, an account will not be created. This consent form is the same form that was distributed to families during Meet the Teacher, and it is being provided again to ensure all parents and guardians have the opportunity to review the information and grant permission for their child to use these educational digital tools.
