Miss Sager

My name is Miss Sager, and this will be my third year here in Era ISD as the music teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music (with a Minor in Education) from Texas Woman's University and am certified to teach EC-12 Music. I have loved music all of my life and in turn hope to share that joy with others.  Music is a wonderful outlet through which students can creatively express themselves. My goal is to provide the tools and experiences that will enable your students to develop both as independent musicians and well-rounded citizens.

In Era ISD, students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade attend General Music Class twice a week. Over the course of the year, we will work on building music literacy, healthy singing technique, instrument skills, and much more! Students in 5th and 6th grade may choose to participate in Hornet Singers, an after-school choir that meets once a week. I will periodically update this website with information about what we are currently learning in music class and will also post pictures and videos to Class Dojo. I am linked to Class Dojo through your student's homeroom class, so make sure you are signed up.

At the Junior High and High School levels, students in 8th through 12th grades can enroll in choir classes that meet every day. The choral literature that we learn in class will be used to develop healthy singing techniques and an appreciation of music from cultures both near and far. All students will participate in at least one formal performance during the year, and older students will have multiple performance opportunities. Junior High and High School students will compete as ensembles in the University Interscholastic League Choral Concert and Sight-Reading Contest in the spring, and individuals will have the option of competing in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest and auditioning for the Texas Music Educators Association's All-State Choir (High School) or All-Region Choir (Junior High). In addition, High School students may also choose to audition for the extra-curricular drumline or brand new show choir.

High School and Junior High students and parents should make sure to create a Charms account in order to stay up to date. Information about how to sign up will be handed out at Meet the Teacher night and on the first day of school.

Thank you, and I look forward to working with students to create beautiful music this year!
