Teacher Expectations for Music Class

  • Enter and exit the room quietly.
  • Talk only when it is appropriate and helpful.
  • Actively participate every day in all activities.
  • Respect everyone in the room.
  • Never have gum, food, or drink of any kind except plain water in the music room!
  • Have fun!

All pre-K-5 students at Era Elementary School participate in music class twice a week, where they engage in rhythm and note-reading, singing, playing music games, listening, and performing with various instruments. In addition to core music skills, students explore music history and culture, music theory, composition, and performance techniques. These foundational skills are designed to help students progress through Era ISD's music enrichment programs.

Era is also fortunate to use the Quaver music program, providing each student with an account to practice their music skills, compose original songs, listen to music, watch educational videos, play music-based games, and much more!

In the second semester, 5th graders will dive into a ukulele unit, while 4th graders will start a recorder unit, applying their note-reading skills in hands-on ways.

All students will have the exciting opportunity to perform music in front of an audience, showcasing their growth and hard work. We look forward to a fantastic year of music learning and discovery at Era Elementary!
