About Mrs. Mihalyi:
Mrs. Mihalyi joined the Era ISD family in the fall of 2020 and works as both a nurse and paraprofessional. She has been a nurse for 20+ years with the majority of her experience in pediatrics. After joining Era's staff as a part time nurse, Mrs. Mihalyi became full time in 2021 adding elementary paraprofessional to her duties. Mrs. Mihalyi and her husband Justin reside in Era where they have raised their 3 sons. In her freetime she enjoys art, reading, being outdoors and traveling.
"I love being an Era Hornet! As a community member, parent, and staff member, there is no place I would rather be. Taking care of students and staff alongside Nurse G in the health office, helping my elementary students work through creatively finding solutions to problems, and assisting them with artistic expression in STEAM truly make my heart happy. My goal is to inspire a lifelong love for learning because LEARNING IS FUN! I have always enjoyed being creative and I hope to share that with my students as well. I consider it one of my greatest privileges to be able to be a small part of helping the students of Era reach their full potential. Thank you for allowing me to be a part for your kiddo's journey. I assure you that I consider it an honor."

WHAT IS STEAM?
STEAM Education is an approach to teaching and learning that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math to guide student inquiry, discussion, and problem-solving. From technology basics such as digital citizenship, keyboarding, beginning robotics and coding to learning the Elements of Art, STEAM class is a creative environment in which students are presented with a challenge and given a variety of ways in which to solve it.
STEAM education can have many benefits for early childhood development, including:
-
Creativity - STEAM education helps students learn that problems can be solved in multiple ways, and encourages innovation.
-
Critical thinking - STEAM education helps children develop critical thinking skills that can help them solve problems throughout their lives. In STEAM we are thinking outside of the box.
-
Problem solving - STEAM education encourages children to find solutions to real-world problems using a multifaceted approach. We are looking at the task at hand from many different angles to find the best way to tackle it.
-
Communication - STEAM education develops communication skills, such as active listening and sharing ideas. Expression of thoughts feelings and emotions through art is also a key part of STEAM.
-
Collaboration - STEAM education provides opportunities for children to work together to solve problems or complete projects. Whether it is bouncing ideas each other or each focusing on a doing your part of a group projects, in STEAM we all work together towards a common goal.
-
Confidence - STEAM education builds confidence by challenging their talents and helping them find success. In STEAM we learn that it is ok to make mistakes, learn from them and keep going.
-
Social skills - STEAM education can help children develop social skills, such as teamwork and collaboration. Our STEAM classroom focuses on individual being a part of a group and finding our voice and value within it.
-
Love of learning - STEAM education fosters lifelong love of learning. When learning is fun it does not seem like a chore. The most successful individual are those that never stop learning.
-
Sensory development - STEAM education can help with sensory development. Sometimes problems are tactile, messy, or even loud. In STEAM we learn that we can often use all five of our senses to gain information when finding solutions.
