Mrs. Vickie Beckham

I first came to Era ISD in August of 1979 as a new teacher.  I was met in the parking lot by the new superintendent, Harvey Wilson.  He immediately tried to enroll me as a new high school student.  He was very surprised to find out that I was, however, his new Special Education teacher, and not a new student.  (The Special Education Coop hired all the county Special Education teachers at that time.)

I have continued to teach Special Education here at Era for the past 39, going on 40 years.  (Yes, Era ISD has continued to allow me to do what makes me happy - teach- and has not yet requested that I "move on" or indicated  that I have "outlived my usefulness" and need to retire.)

My husband, of 41 years, is Daniel Joe Beckham.  I have a daughter, Courtney Ann Beckham Yates.  She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education/Special Education in December 2006 and is currently teaching at Bridgeport Elementary School.  She and her husband, Nick, are the proud parents of our first grandchild, a boy named Calen  =  Cal !  Calen is the SMARTEST, CUTEST, MOST HANDSOME, BEST NATURED grandson in the whole world !*!*!*!*!*  (He takes after me, except for the handsome part.)  Calen will be in 1st grade at Bridgeport Elementary School this year.  He is 6 years & 5 moths old.   I also have a granddaughter named Hadley Ann Yates.  She is BEAUTIFUL, CUTE, VERY HAPPY, and  VERY ACTIVE.   Hadley, nicknamed Sassy Pants ( the nickname fits her very well), is 3 years & 8 months old. {My husband and I are very blessed !*!*!*!*!*}

In addition to teaching at Era, I also teach Learning Frameworks at NCTC in Gainesville.  My hobbies are reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends, watching movies,  and now, spending time with my grandson and granddaughter.
