Mr. Ramirez

My name is Jorge Ramirez and I am excited about joining the Hornet family here at Era. I was born in Rioverde, Mexico but I have lived most of my life here in the United States. I attended school in Grandview, TX and recently graduated from Texas Woman's University where I earned my B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Education. I did my student teaching at Era during the 2018-2019 school year and this school year will be my first official year teaching. I will be teaching Chemistry, Physics, and a new class, Principles of Engineering, where we will learn all about drones.

I am passionate about science and showing students how exciting it can be! I aim to help students find and cultivate their inner scientist in my class. I love chemistry because it is fascinating how tiny, unseen molecules can have such a huge impact on our health, food, and environment. This summer, I was fortunate enough to enroll in the Mitchell Institute Physics Enhancement Program that was offered by Texas A&M University. There, I learned from distinguished professors and got to collaborate with other science teachers. I am looking forward to helping students learn all about drones and work towards obtaining their Drone Pilot license. With many businesses and industries incorporating drones into their line of work, this certification will greatly benefit students after they graduate.

On my downtime, I enjoy playing video games, watching the newest Marvel movies, reading, binge-watching my favorite tv shows, and spending time with my girlfriend of four years.

I am looking forward to this school year and helping my students succeed! Go Hornets!!
