Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Becky Fleitman-Newton
I am very excited to begin my 7th year at Era ISD! This year, I will teach 5th grade math and science. I am also the cheerleader coach for Junior High. I am married to Michael Newton (Slidell ISD '95), and we have three children: Alison Morris (Senior at The University of Houston), Caleb Newton (freshman), and Whitney Newton (8th grade). We love sports and anything outdoors. My husband and I coached youth sports in the area for many years.
I graduated from Muenster High School as the Valedicatorian ('95), and began college at Texas Woman's University. After one and a half years there, I moved to Waco and began attending Baylor University (Sic'Em Bears!!). I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education in 2001 (concentration in Health, Human Performance, and Recreation) and my Master of Science in Education (concentration in Sports Management) in 2003. While in graduate school, I taught in my department and loved every minute of it. I decided after my youngest child began school that I would earn my alternative teaching certification through I Teach Texas, which I completed in January 2013 by fulfilling a 12-week field experience here at Era. I also served as a substitute for 3 years in a neighboring school district, as well as a semester at Era. My passion is teaching, and I look forward to teaching your children each day.
