Miss Burns

Miss Burns graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Music degree, and Northern Illinois University with a Master of Music Degree.  She has taught all levels of music, including middle school and high school band, middle school and high school choir, private flute lessons, and general music K-6. She spent 12 years in a small district very much like Era, and feels at home here.

Miss Burns is originally from Illinois, near Chicago.  She moved to Texas in 2013 and loves it here (and does not miss the -90 degree windchills)!

She likes to play the flute, read, and crochet.  She is also an animal lover, and has had dogs, birds, and cats. Her favorite color is purple! Miss Burns is very excited about teaching music at Era!

Music Cover Contest Entries

Below you will see artwork by our Era Elementary students. Each year I am amazed at the talent and imagination of these wonderful kids. This year I decided to share the joy that seeing these pictures gives me by sharing them with all of you!

Each grade level with entries to the contest has its own gallery. Drawing these pictures is an optional activity that students can do. The pictures get sent to the Music K-8 Magazine to enter the contest to have their artwork chosen as the cover for the magazine's May/June edition. Thousands of students from across the country enter this contest every year. I am proud to say that for the past 3 years, many students from our little school have received honorable mentions. As you look through the pictures below, I'm sure that you will agree we have great contenders for the contest this year! The magazine announces the winner in May. Enjoy the beautiful artwork!
