Welcome to Senior Year and your Anatomy and Physiology class!
Course Description: The Anatomy and Physiology is designed for students to conduct laboratory and field investigations, use scientific methods during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problem solving. Students in A&P will study a variety of topics, including the structure and function of the human body as well as the interactions of body systems for maintaining homeostasis. Each separate unit thoughout the school year will employ different concepts for lab safety, scientific theories, data collection, as well as demonstration of the ability to communicate valid conclusions based on data results. While studying advancements in the health technologies unit, the students will analyze developments in stem cell research, bioengineering, and transplant technologies. We will investigate the human body's energy needs, the kinetic and physical forces within the human body, and the technologies used for diagnostic and therapeutic treatment modalites. In researching the biochemistry unit, A&P students will become familiar with, investigate, describe, the importnce of chemical and physical process in maintaining homeostasis in the human body. The nervous system will allow students to illustrate the conduction processes and electrical interactions in the human body. While exploring the transport systems of the human body, the students will analyze the interactions between the circulatory, respiratory, and excretory systems. With most of our human body system units, the students will examine the effects of disease, trauma, and congenital defects, as well as understanding the technological influences and advancements of these treatment(s).
Classroom Expectations: Be On TIME. (See attendance/Tardiness policy)
Show RESPECT to your peers and teacher.
Keep your HANDS and FEET to YOURSELVES.
Bring all of the MATERIALS (paper, pencil/pen, notes and homework) to class.
