We have had a great beginning to the school year and have started to get back into the groove.  We have some new faces on campus this year, as many of you have already noticed.  Mrs. Becky Wilson is the new high school secretary; Mr. Michael Kindell is teaching algebra I, geometry, and pre-calculus; Mrs. Melitta Taylor is teaching 7th/8th grade reading and English/language arts; Mrs. Melissa Burgess is assisting Mrs. Beckham in the special education department; Mr. Steven Cope is teaching physics and is our new head boys basketball coach; Mrs. Keri Heskett is teaching technology Applications and will be the new yearbook sponsor, and Anthony Oller is teaching U.S. History and is an assistant coach.  We have a couple of others who are playing new roles on our team...Mr. John Erwin is our new full-time counselor and Mrs. LeeAnn Spears is our new librarian.  If you get the chance, come by and introduce yourselves.  I know these individuals will be working dilligently to make our district even better. 

 

Progress reports will be going out the week of September 13 - September 17.  As always, I encourage everyone to communicate regularly with the classroom teachers of their children.  E-mail is the easiest way...make sure you share your e-mail address with all of your child's teachers.  There is nothing worse than for a child to get behind at the beginning of the school year.  It is so difficult to learn new material each day when the content from previous instruction was not totally mastered.  Pretty soon the kids feel as if they are drowning in a whirlpool.  We definitely do not want that to happen!!!
